Tier List

Pet Forest Mutation and Chromatic Tiers

Rank the coat, then the species. A shiny common is still a common.

Mutation Tiers

Mutation tiers answer a narrower question than the main tier list: if two copies of the same species exist, which coat deserves the tile? The how-to remains on Mutations and Chromatic. This page is the ranking.

S coats

Alien while the Alien Event is live, Admin / Arcane / glitch during Admin Abuse, and Angelic on already rare bodies. These coats are scarce because the window is scarce. Extract only from a true duplicate. Chromatic plus any S coat is a slot, not a grind.

A coats

Chromatic (star / shiny) on A or S species from the main list. Steampunk on dragons and high earners. Vampiric when the shard is useful and the look hits a night banner. These coats regularly show up in kitchen output and weather, so they are valuable but not unique.

B coats

Candy outside of a Sugar Rush you still need for the checklist. Pirate on mid species. Both are photogenic and shard-friendly. Keep one, extract extras, move on.

C coats

Default / no mutation. Most of the forest is C. That is fine. A default elephant can still beat a pirate chipmunk. Always read species first.

Extract priority

  1. Duplicate B coat on a C species — extract, keep the shard.
  2. Duplicate A coat on a B species — extract if you already display one.
  3. Last S coat — never extract.
  4. Chromatic last copy — never extract; there is no “chromatic shard” in verified footage.

Use the otter kitchen in Crafting and Luck to restock extractors. Log coats on the collection checklist. If a coat is only appearing in one biome’s weather, farm that banner instead of resetting the decoration shop.

Mutation tiers will change when Alien leaves and when the next admin coat is named. Until a patch note on the changelog says otherwise, treat S as “window” and C as “default.”

If two friends argue about Candy versus Pirate on the same fox, stop talking in adjectives. Place both for one tick cycle, write the numbers on the income planner, and extract the loser if it is a duplicate. Coats are measurable. A screenshot of a “cool” pirate hat is not a rank. The main tier list still wins when the species gap is large — a default elephant beats a candy chipmunk, and no amount of Sugar Rush changes that math.

Write coat plus species as one object when you argue with friends. Candy fox and Candy shark are not the same rank. The coat letter only moves a pet one band unless the window is Alien or Admin. That rule keeps the mutation list from eating the main list.

When a new coat name appears in a patch sentence, add it as B until you see it twice. Promotion to A or S requires a window or a shard economy. That delay keeps one streamer screenshot from rewriting the list overnight. Keep the delay. One extra day of B-tier humility is cheaper than a wrong S-tier rumor. If a coat has no second sighting after a week, leave it unranked rather than guessing an S. Leave the question mark in the notes until a second player confirms the same coat on a weekday tree.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Chromatic better than Vampiric?

On the same species, Chromatic is usually the keep. Vampiric is easier to shard and reapply.

Should I extract Candy from an Elusive?

Only if you have a second Elusive of that species. Otherwise slot it.

Do coats stack?

Footage shows one primary mutation plus a possible Chromatic star. We have not verified a triple-coat stack.

Where do I learn the extractor UI?

In Mutations and Chromatic. This page only ranks the result.
